Best ways to make money online

Best ways to make money both online and offline

1. Online Surveys

Filling out online surveys in their spare time is becoming an increasingly common way for students to earn money. Companies that conduct market research are still looking for potential candidates to participate in surveys and evaluate new goods all over the world.

You will earn a few quid for a few minutes of form filling, which can be paid in cash or as incentives. For certain surveys, you can earn up to £3 ($5).

Sign up for Swagbucks as well, which pays you for doing things like browsing the web, watching videos, and playing games.

2. Paid for searching the internet

Do you want to make money doing what you already do online? This has to be one of the simplest ways to make money online without putting in much effort or changing your habits.

Qmee.com has come up with a clever way to reward you for browsing on Google, Bing, Yahoo, Amazon, and eBay. You simply install a browser add-on, and when you perform a search, you can see a few supported results alongside your regular results.

Each Qmee result comes with a cash reward; if you're interested, simply click on it to claim your prize.

The best part is that there is no minimum cashout; our first was just 72p wired to our PayPal account. You also have the option of donating it to a good cause.

3. Online market trading

Whilst this isn't necessarily an easy way to make money, investing in stock markets can be lucrative if you learn to do it properly and safely. By the same token, you may suffer significant losses if you don't take it seriously.

Today there is no need to fund the yachts of Wolf of Wall Street style stock brokers. You can do it all yourself with the help of online market trading platforms.

Having spent many hours researching this new opportunity, I've been experimenting with the popular platform eToro.com.

eToro has over 12 million users worldwide and offers free practice accounts. It has been featured in the BBC 2 documentary "Traders: Millions by the Minute" and sponsors several Premier League football clubs.

Trading stocks on eToro is currently not available in the USA.

One of the best things on eToro is the CopyTrader feature. This lets you literally see, follow and copy the investments of other top-performing traders.

Follow George's complete guide to trading on eToro to learn more. I think $200 is a good amount to get the most out of the learning curve by trying out a few different markets. If nothing else you'll learn a great deal about various investments and industries.

Please be aware that all trading involves risk. eToro is a multi-asset platform that offers real asset ownership and high-risk leveraged 'CFD' products. 67 percent of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should think about whether you can afford to take such a significant risk with your capital. This information is not intended to provide financial or investment advice.

4. Start your own website

Are you looking for a way to make money when you sleep? You'll need a website. It is THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO MAKE MONEY WHILE SLEEPING.

It takes less than 20 minutes to set up a website with Bluehost, costs very little, and can be achieved by an 82-year-old. It only takes a little social media promotion to attract your first users, and there are numerous ways to monetize your platform.

Save the Student is an example of a popular website that began in Owen Burek's first year of university and has since expanded into a full-time and substantial company.

Read Owen's step-by-step instructions for creating a website in under 20 minutes. It's truly one of the most valuable possessions.

5. Review websites and apps for money

Well, it appears that you're very adept with a web browser, so perhaps it's time to go pro and search websites for a living!

UserTesting.com is a modern platform that pays regular people to check websites of all kinds. Each review takes about 20 minutes to complete and pays $10 (£6.50) via PayPal.

Simply sign up, complete a test analysis, and wait for websites to arrive in your inbox.

6. Write a Kindle eBook and publish it

If there's one thing that students excel at, it's researching and writing. Anyone can publish an eBook on Amazon's Kindle store and profit from it.

Your global market is massive because the Kindle app is now available on almost every tablet (laptops, iPods, smartphones, and yes, Kindles).

You'll get 70% of the revenue if you price your book between £1.49 and £6.99. That is a fantastic deal, particularly considering Amazon is the ultimate selling machine (and note, people are looking to spend).

Creating value and writing non-fiction are the keys to success with eBooks. Simply combining knowledge you've researched and gathered on a popular issue (e.g.' secrets' to finding a job) and delivering it in an easy-to-digest format (an eBook) is enough to justify anyone spending a few pounds on it.

Another important tip is to get a fantastic cover crafted (see examples) so that your book stands out, and once your book is available on the Kindle store, it's critical to get some feedback so that it appears higher in search results. At the end of your novel, invite readers to leave an honest review.

The best part about this profitable idea is that after you've put in the time (say, 20 hours), you'll be able to earn a passive income for years!

7. Affiliate marketing

You can start making money right away by promoting all kinds of businesses, products, services, and deals online if you have a strong social media presence or even a blog or website.

Sign up for the Awin network as a publisher, check out their offers blog or search the merchant listings for anything you think your friends would like, then grab your affiliate connection and share it. You'll earn a nice commission if anyone buys through your connection (within 90 days).

Set up a website (read our guide) or a topical Facebook page and invite all your friends to join, then post your affiliate offers there.

8. Recycling of mobile phones

Recycling old phones and other outdated devices will earn you money while also helping the environment. Perhaps ask your parents if they have some as well.

For the best companies to use and how to ensure you get all the cash quoted to you online, visit our page on making money from old phones.

9. Become a 'Clickworker'

The Clickworker.com model is based on "online crowd-sourcing," in which companies post complex, flexible tasks that need to be completed quickly. And it's a simple way for us to make quick money from our sofa.

There are several different activities, but the most common ones are mindless data entry, web analysis, and form filling. For the job you do, you are compensated and paid in cash (via PayPal), and you have complete control of when and when you work. It's worth a shot.

10. Part-time job

The most obvious first choice for most students seeking to supplement their student loans is a part-time job. It can provide a steady stream of income while still allowing you to gain valuable work experience.

However, decent jobs aren't always easy to come by!

Start with our student work quest, then look for openings in local classified ads and at your university's career center.

Signing up for CV Library, a free service that matches your CV with appropriate part-time employment and career opportunities is also a good idea.

11. Fiverr gigs

Fiverr has grown to become the world's largest platform for people to earn money by selling small services (also known as "gigs").

Anything from writing and translating to social media sharing, pranks, and teaching to make music, voiceovers, and short video clips for people all over the world is possible!

The default price is $5 (hence the name Fiverr...), but you can charge more by adding additional services to gigs. Although it might not seem to be anything at first, it can easily add up, and there are numerous examples of people who make a living off the net. The trick is to set up a system that reduces the amount of time spent on each gig.

However, there is a way to make much more money on Fiverr by doing even less work. How do you do it? By reselling gigs to other people. Find a good logo designer, for example, and then react to jobs on Upwork or even local classifieds. It's easy to turn a $5 investment into $50 or more, and it's repeatable!

If you don't want to sell at all, there's a lot of positive things you can do for yourself. Take a look around and get motivated!

12. Review music for money

If you like music, you can turn it into a company by reviewing unsigned bands and artists for money on Slicethepie.

It takes time to establish a reputation, but some users have stated that they receive £40 per month as a result of their efforts. This might not seem like much, but if it's something you enjoy, it shouldn't be too difficult and will add to your resume. Although the money you receive would be in US dollars, everyone can sign up and leave a review.

Go to Slicethepie right now to get started, or read our fast guide for more details.

13.Sell your notes

It's a perfect way to make some extra money if you don't mind sharing your notes with other students. There are websites where you can upload your notes and set a price, and then get paid when another student downloads them.

Most of these sites, such as Nexus Notes and Stuvia, allow you to list your notes for free, but they take a cut of your profits to manage promotion and other aspects of your business so you don't have to go out and advertise your notes yourself.

You'll almost certainly have to upload PDFs, but it'll be worth it in the end. You may send handwritten notes, but typing them up would definitely earn you more money.

14. Sale second-hand textbooks

Buying other students' textbooks at the end of the year and then selling them only after freshmen's week – when the new intake of students knows they need them – is a perfect way to make money.

You can either advertise on campus or list them on Amazon Marketplace with ease (just bear in mind they take a commission on books sold).

15. Sale and purchase Domain names

A domain name is simply a website address (for example,'savethestudent.org' or'mysite.co.uk'), and there are several different extensions to choose from (.com, .net, .co.uk etc).

Premium domain names can be registered for as little as $0.99 at GoDaddy.com, but when sold, they can fetch thousands, if not millions of dollars. VacationRentals.com was sold for $35 million in 2007!

Now, you're unlikely to come across something like that, but with a little digging, you can still make a fast buck. The trick is to find available domain names with some commercial value, buy them, and then sell them on a platform like Sedo.com.

16. Shopping mystery

Today, being a mystery shopper is simpler than you would imagine, and you will be well compensated for your efforts.

There are hundreds of companies that will pay you to go to various stores and restaurants and provide input about how they are doing. In our guide on how to become a mystery shopper, we've checked the best agencies.

Another form of mystery shopping is tasking apps, which pay you for completing small local tasks. It can also be a lot of fun!

17. Become a Celebrity Extra

Do you aspire to be a budding young actor or just someone who walks by in the background of an Eastenders episode? If you apply to be an extra in a TV or film, it might be you.

The pay isn't bad either: on average, £60-80 a day, and you don't have to do much!

There are a plethora of casting companies that will help you find willing extras. They make their money by deducting a percentage of your earnings, so always inquire about this before accepting work.

18. Sell all of your old CDs, cards, and movies

Selling your old bits and bobs that are cluttering up your room is a smart idea if you want to make a fast buck.

The best part is that before selling them, you can rip all of the songs and movies onto your laptop or external hard drive. This means you're just selling the plastic and the artwork!

You can earn anywhere from 10p to £20 per piece, and if you have a big collection, the money can really add up. While you're at it, ask your parents if they have some 'clutter' they'd like to get rid of.

You can also sell almost anything for free on Amazon Marketplace or Preloved, and places like MusicMagpie will pay you right away if you send in your unwanted pieces.

19. Sell yourself and your education

It's better than ever to become a mentor for other students. Your market was previously limited to local face-to-face sessions, but thanks to online tutoring platforms, you can now reach a global audience!

Udemy allows anyone to build an online course (on basically anything!) and earn money from it as long as people take it.

List yourself on Superprof and UK Tutors if you want to teach one-on-one.

You can earn up to £10 per hour tutoring younger GCSE or A-Level students, and you don't need to be highly educated.

20. Babysitting services

It's a tried-and-true moneymaker, and with good reason. You are (hopefully) paying to watch television and not much else.

Look at local classified ads for ideas about how much to charge, but even if you aren't qualified in childcare, you can expect to be paid more than £9 per hour.

Aside from advertising yourself, creating a profile on Care Babysitting is completely free. It can be simple money (unless you end up with the kid from hell!).

Our babysitting guide takes you through the most important aspects. To look after small children in the UK, for example, you would need a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, even though some parents do not request one.
